I would have been shocked to hear otherwise, but the good people at HBO recognize that they’re sitting on an iron throne of gold, no matter how many clueless, moronic pieces the once-migthty, now-embarrasing corpse of old journalism that is the  New York Times has to say for themselves….

It’s probably been posted a billion times by this point, but this is by far my favorite trailer for the series!

Winter is coming… again.

The fact that someone took the time to transform Game of Thrones into a 16-bit video game masterpiece is mind-boggling. It is also hilarious!

For my money, George R.R. Martin and Joe Abercrombie (sorry Scott Lynch) are the two best fantasy writers working in the field today. You’d have to be living under a rock not to know about Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire by now. Abercrombie’s The First Law Trilogy and following standalone novels are less known, but equally satisfying.

In terms of unnecessary food metaphor, Martin’s a bloody steak and Abercrombie’s a juicy burger! Can’t go wrong with either!

The interview continues….

The opening titles are easily the best part of the new HBO series. Game of Thrones underwhelmed me a bit, but then a 10-episode series is not going to compare to the novels. They got the casting right, so I’m tentatively optimistic that the series is going to hit its stride.
